[ WELL, that was an exciting day, wasn't it. Jaffar had the dubious honor of helping find a bunch of evidence that he didn't quite understand -- he's still not sure what a gun is -- but Nino was unharmed, and thus, he doesn't feel one way or another about the day's events. He needs to figure out what's going on, though - he understands that much. If he lets this go on much longer, the killings will find their way to his doorstep.

And he's doubly vulnerable because of the man currently sitting in the hut with him. Nino is out, no doubt helping those affected by the events cope or something like that, and Jaffar is somewhat thankful for it, for once. He'd wanted to talk to Jack alone. ]

Jack Vessalius... I would speak with you.

[IT'S THE MAN OF FEW WORDS. Jack's probably been puttering along trying to help people Deal with this traumatic set of kills, but he needs a break as much as anyone. He may be used to death, but this sort of sadism is pretty surprising even to him...

That said, he's more surprised by the fact that Jaffar's actually coming to say something to him first and foremost.]

Oh— Yes? Is something wrong...?

[ Jaffar can talk!! If he needs to... and he has no other options... ]

No. [ Well. Yes. The whole situation is Not Great, but that has nothing to do with Jack, as far as he knows. ] ... Our lives are intertwined. This troubles me...

[ surprisingly frank about his emotions, for Jaffar. He pauses, thinking about what he wants to say. ]

[i can't believe they've already hit the option of "no other options" LORD, TEAM.

He does seem a little surprised by the frankness here, but it's also about what he's come to expect from Jaffar.]

Yes... I would hate to be the cause of you leaving Miss Nino's side. [He knows that's why it troubles Jaffar, okay, that'd be obvious even to a rock.] But I don't know if there's much to do about it, outside of keeping the votes from your name or mine.

[ once again, straight to the point. He stares at Jack with a clear gaze, serious. ]

[VERY TO THE POINT. Once again, mild surprise - but he'll nod soon after, since that's as sensible as anything.]

Ah... Well, I'd be amenable to that, certainly. I don't know that I have anything worthwhile to share for now, though.

[ after a few seconds of silence and contemplation, Jaffar offers his own information regardless. ]

... Probably... I know one of those with a "role" ... But I do not know what they are capable of.

Goodness... How on earth did you find that out? Was whoever told you someone that you would trust not to lie?

[HE'S CONCERNED?? Jaffar please don't put targets on their backs.]

They told me themselves. I approached them... I had a feeling I was not wrong...

[ they weren't lying... probably. But he also told them he wouldn't tell other people about their identity, so he has to be vague about it!! ]

They said they had not killed anyone...

[On the plus side, it looks like Jack's not about to question since he figures if Jaffar was going to say a name, he'd have led with that.]

Do you know what their role entails, at least? Are they the one giving items...?

... That is my suspicion.

[ items or weapons, he thinks. It would also be a convenient way around "killing" people if one only provided the tools to do so. ]

They simply told me not to worry... They said they would protect Nino... But I am not convinced.

[dramatist]

Are they someone that you would trust to protect Miss Nino if they hadn't come forward with that information?

[He's guessing "no" but he'd also guess a blanket no for literally anyone on the island save Jaffar himself.]

... [ he has to think about that one deeply before he answers. ] ... Yes.

I see... Well, in that case, I'll trust your judgment.

[He knows how strongly Jaffar takes Nino's protection into account with like heckin everything he does. That said:]

I'd still advise caution.

I will. They do not suspect me, yet they hid things from me... They have done something.

[ but he'll wait until he has a reason to go after them to put them on blast. ]

[When will Jaffar become a Gossip Girl and just spill the beans, dang.]

...Is there anything that I can do to help?

[ HE NEEDS TO LEVEL UP HIS SOCIAL SKILLS... ]

I'll be certain to do so... Though to be honest, I don't think that'll be much of an issue. People trust you because you're a very straightforward sort of man. I think I've made some hesitant.

[It's not his fault he doesn't care enough when separated from his goals to put on a Competent Hero act 24/7!!]

He does shake his head at that, faintly. ]

People... fear me. They shall answer me when I speak to them, but none confide in me. It has been that way since I was born. [ he doesn't sound sad about it or anything - just matter-of-fact. Nino is his only real confidant. ] I do not see why you should make them uneasy...

[Please judge him Jaffar he deserves it.]

Even though this one trusted you to know that they had a role, when you could easily tell others? That's a large display of trust, I believe. [As for that:] I can't say why either, but it's not the first time a person has found me strange.

[ maybe he's right. More likely, people don't see him as an actual person. They don't think he's the type to lie or manipulate because he doesn't even have enough humanity for such things. ]

You do not seem strange to me.

[ once again, it's not really a compliment - just an honest statement. ]

Thank you, I suppose. [He knows it's not a compliment but he'll give thanks anyway!!] My closest friend seemed to have that opinion so I'm sure there was some truth to it. I'll see what I can do to keep from falling under suspicion again, even so.
